Pelvic floor muscles need to be both strong and flexible to have a well functioning pelvic floor. Most women are aware that we need to strengthen our pelvic floor muscles but little advice is given around relaxing those muscles.

So if someone tells you kegels are the answer, stop and remember that sometimes it might be one piece of the puzzle but it definitely isn’t all that is needed for a healthy pelvic floor. In fact sometimes they can make it worse, if you’re dealing with muscles that are too tight.

About 1 in 3 women will experience pelvic floor dysfunction in their lifetime! Most women start doing exercises once there is already an issue. Typically, in my opinion pelvic floor rehab work has been SO boring and most women skip it. I was one of them!

That’s what led me to create my program Diastasis Done Differently. Pelvic floor work that’s not boring. If it gets done earlier in a women’s life, we can avoid serious issues.

Posture also plays a huge role in having a strong, healthy pelvic floor.  Having the proper alignment in your daily activities, as well as during workouts, can make a big difference. This is another one of the many reasons why my core power yoga method is amazing for women’s health.

We all know yoga is good for posture. It lengthens and strengthens your core and back muscles, as well as assisting proper pelvic alignment which helps you to maintain proper postural alignment.

In Diastasis Done Differently we dedicate one day a week to yoga for pelvic floor relaxation and honestly the women I work with look forward to this day so much. It’s deeply relaxing and nourishing work, that leaves you feeling well rested and calm. All mamas need that right!

So in this class we cover the 5 best yoga for pelvic floor stretches to help relax your muscles and reduce leaking and pain.

In my classes and programs I always promote the importance of working our body as a whole. Everything is connected and therefore we should move in such a way. As well as relaxing your pelvic floor, these exercises relax your hips, inner tights, back and core muscles. A full body relaxation and it’s so good.

So grab your mat and join me for this deeply nourishing class that will help you reduce any symptoms of a tight pelvic floor such as pain and leaking.
