What Is Mommy Pooch & What Do You Do About It?
Not for one second do I want you to feel negatively about your body because you have a mommy pooch or for any other reason.
You grew and birthed a human, which is honestly incredible. Your body deserves love.
Becoming a mother is a wonderful blessing. Just like all aspects of life it comes with highs and lows, challenges and victories.
The way I approach our classes is with the attitude that we aren’t doing this because we are lacking, we are doing it from a place of love. You deserve to feel good. You deserve to feel confident. You deserve to have a strong functional body.
Women don’t need to put up with leaking from a weak pelvic floor or back pain or a mommy pooch from ab separation. These are very common issues women deal with postpartum and no longer do we need to suffer in silence and just get on with it.
NO… You matter as well.
Mommy pooch is caused by abdominal separation. Your abs split to make room for your growing babe. This is also called diastasis recti, which if left untreated can lead to poor core stabilization, pelvic floor dysfunction, and back or pelvic pain.
ALL women have some degree of ab separation from pregnancy.
More than 60% of women have diastasis recti postpartum of varying degrees.
Even if you the lose excess weight you might be carrying, without addressing muscle separation, the belly bulge will remain. It causes a protrusion of your stomach which can make you still look pregnant years after giving birth.
It can be a major knock to your confidence and unless you know why you have the protrusion it can make you feel confused and lost as to what to do about your body.
So it’s very worth taking some time to work on strengthening your core.
A strong core is important for everyone, it’s your center but motherhood requires you to be carrying heavy children, juggling a million things and feeling strong and pain free is a massive help.
This class is a strong flowing core yoga class with the perfect balance of challenge and calm. Yes you’re rehabbing your core but that doesn’t mean it needs to be boring.
This class offers so much variety and works different muscles in your body leaving you feeling like you’ve had a great full body workout.
Core yoga is the perfect tool for mothers. Motherhood requires enormous amounts of patience and empathy and yoga brings a sense of peace and calm to you.
Yoga not only makes me strong and flexible. It makes me a better mother, a better human.
I hope you enjoy this class, it’s a fun one with lots of variety.
