What Causes Urinary Incontinence
Urinary incontinence or accidental leaking of urine affects 1 in 3 women after childbirth. Pregnancy and birth weakens your pelvic floor and can lead to leaking of urine when you laugh, cough, sneeze or run. While bladder leaks in women is extremely common, it isn’t normal. There are some great exercises you can do to strengthen your pelvic floor and core muscles and help you reduce your symptoms of leakage.
You don’t need to just put up with your urinary incontinence symptoms, these exercises will help and are a very important step in rehabilitating your muscles.
The class can be done by both pregnant and postpartum women and the more you practice it, the better the results to help you reduce your symptoms of leaking urine.
The class features a range of exercises that are lying down, sitting and standing. It’s important to train your muscles in all these positions so they are strong in all situations. At first you may find it difficult to engage your pelvic floor standing but stick with it and build strength slowly.
Standing is the most challenging because we have gravity pulling everything down. I have a great standing core class that is perfect for building strength in your abs and pelvic floor, if you’re wanting to add some extra exercises to your routine.
I know many of my clients have been hesitant to do active things such as running , jumping, playing sports etc for fear of accidental leaking and the embarrassment that can come with that. I’ve experienced it myself, so I completely understand. That’s why this class is designed to get you to a place where you feel confident in all the activities you desire. If you practice my classes regularly you’ll come out even stronger than before pregnancy which is a great feeling.
